Nancy Drew

I am obsessed with a series of stratagy/action/mystery games. The Nancy Drew Mystery Series for PC.

Go ahead and laugh, I can hear it now. I laughed when I first thought about it too. I mean...NANCY DREW??

But then I got The Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake for Christmas a couple years ago, and since then, I have been a huge fan. I'm not the only one in my family either. My brother and I work together in the game, because when one person gets stuck, the other usually finds the solution to the puzzle. My dad has even played a game or two, but to this date, has not suceeded in solving any of the cases.

In my pc collection, I own every Nancy Drew game that is available, with the exception of Shadow Ranch. I am currently working on The Mystery of Blackmoor Manor.

Though the game sounds as though it would be some easy, cheesy, mystery game, it isn't really. Sure, for the fans of Diablo, it may not be the best thing, but for players of games like CSI, Missing, Siberia, or any other such game, Nancy Drew would be interesting.

There are two levels of difficulty, Junior and Senior. You solve puzzles, talk to people, use your cellphone that is web-enabled, or your laptop, or pda (depending on which game) to do research. There are movie clips that have okay graphics, pc game speaking, and pretty good story lines.

Though the game seems as though it is only for girls (and it was created for the purpose, to draw more females into the gaming network) guys can get a kick out of it too. The plots are not really feminine, though there are a few cases in which you can phone your boyfriend (Ned Nickerson) or you friends (Bess and George, both females). But overall, the game can be interesting for guys as well, with explosions (every guy seems to like those...) murders, kidnappings, and such.

Though the name sounds cheesy, the game series is challanging. I dare you to buy or rent just one, work your whole way through...

Just try it.

My interest is piqued. What age range do you think it is suitable for?

Well...I am 18, my bro is 16, my dad is 58...lol...

The box says for ages 8 and up, and depending on the maturity level of the child I would agree, because in a few cases there are a couple shocking things. For instance in the Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake, there is a movie clip in which the dogs howl, come up to the cabin in which you are staying, growl, claw and try to get in, etc. That is one that kinda creeped me out because I wasn't expecting it.

Other than that type of thing, I think pretty much any age can play, and kids that are under 8 may be able to with a parent, or sibling, because some of the puzzles are a bit challenging.
