Just because I am bored, and it provided a moment of entertainment, I took some random "quiz" about my "political persuasion."

My result?

I am a "Don't tread on me" Libertarian.  I was also provided the following description:

You distrust the government, are fiercely independent, and don't belong in either party.
Religion and politics should never mix, in your opinion... and you feel oppressed by both.
You don't want the government to cramp your self made style. Or anyone else's ...

I now understand why American's are so apathetic.  Sadly, it is beginning to happen to me as well.  You see, at first you are hopeful, hopeful that your opinions matter, that you, as an American citizen matter, that you have a voice through your vote.  But then you begin to realize that it doesn't matter what party you vote for, you are going to be bent over, and screwed by both parties.

So to escape the problems caused by our government, we delude ourselves with thi...

With the current situation with North Korea, and their threats of using nuclear power, I began to do a little bit of research into nuclear detonation.  I ran across a lesser known (at least I haven't read about it in any news articles, or mentioned by any sort of media thus far....) nuclear weapon known as Electromagnetic Pulse, (EMP).

EMP is actually the result of a nuclear explosion at high-altitudes, above the earth's atmosphere.  The higher the magnetic field...

Imagine one day you were to come across a young man digging a hole in the earth with a shovel.  An inquiry into his actions leads to the conclusion that he is digging his grave.  Likely you would find this intriguing, and would attempt to draw more information from the man.  Suppose the man explained that he wanted the best grave he could create throughout the years of his existence.  The man is literally spending his life preparing the resting place for h...

I happened across these rules of argument techniques, adapted from Arthur Schopenhauer's The Art of Controversy, written to expose "illogical fallacies used intentionally to flummox your opponent."  Congratulations, everyone here at JU is excellent at "intelligent dishonestly."  I believe we deserve a gigantic gold

1. Spend a year hitch-hiking around the country: Why would I want to do this... a mix of camping out in the middle of nowhere, and visiting various towns/cities just draws me.

2. Learn how to play the piano: I took lessons for two years when I was about 9, but my teacher decided that her time would be better spent elsewhere.  However, thanks to modern technology (aka: YouTube), I hope to teach myself how to play at least the basics, and maybe a song here and there.

3. Finish the Exper...

(I have suffered from intense bouts of depression since my early teens.  My religion at the time dictated that I turn to God, to fast, and pray, which I did fervently, believing that only through God could I be saved from myself.  Despite my sincerity, my desperation, the depression continued to come and go.  There were several points in my life that I hit such an extreme low that I could not see any reason to continue existing.  This is from a journal entry at one of those p...

Abandoned.

Here I kneel, head bowed, the rough planks of the wood digging into the soft smooth skin of my knees, the tender palms of my hands.

My hair, tangled, untouched, falls over my face, protecting me from the glare of the salty sun.

I am abandoned, here.

I lift my eyes, glancing out towards the ocean between the dark heavy bars of my cage. There's a froth-rimmed wave, it's folding itself closer and closer to me, giving me the sense that it is unlike any other wave that has wash...

Thought:

The majority of problems happen because we are naturally selfish creatures that expect others to have altruistic motives.

For the past few weeks, I have felt suspended in time, suspended somewhere between the past year, and whatever may come.

I know there are a lot of things happening right now that I don't see, and I try to take comfort in this fact, but the waiting is irrefutably wearing me down.  I often find myself wondering if I will forever be frozen in this state of transition, forever feeling as though I am in overdrive, preparing for something that may never happen.

I suppose I should be us...

Six months ago I moved in with my partner, D, who lives in a basement apartment of a house that was built in the 1920's.  I don't mind old houses, in fact, I prefer them.  There is something about living in a place that has seen the varying range of human emotion before.

Old houses have flavor.

But then there is this house.  The original owner built the house himself, and this man, from what I have heard, was not the most sane.  There are two we...

Things never happen as they are supposed to, as you have them planned out.

Two years ago, I never thought I'd be here.

Yet here I am.

Stranded in this world that I've built for myself...

I'm confused.

Not unusual for me, at least, not anymore. Since when is your "score," and the amount of points that you have, different? Or has it always been like that, and I have just completely forgotten?

I really don't have anything to say, except, hello, again. I told you that I would stop by every now and then, even though JoeUser is no longer my main blog site.

Cheerio.

For the past few months, I have been exploring my own personal beliefs in what I was raised to believe was "the way," or what I was taught about God, and what He expects from us. I happened upon Little Whips post of "My Issues with Christians." A year ago, I would have been offended. Today, I look at it, and consider it.

The main reason for this post is one of the comments on LW's article. MasonM posted "I agree that no person can even begin to truly understand the nature of God. I th...
